VALUE #1 – We Exist To Glorify Jesus Christ
We believe that the church exists primarily for Jesus. It is His church, and its primary purpose is to bring glory and honor to His name.
“God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself” (Eph. 1:22-23). “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” (Phil. 2:10).
VALUE #2 – Our Ministry Model Is The Acts Church
We believe that God has given His church a model for ministry. This model is the Acts church. At Calvary Chapel we emphasize the four spiritual activities mentioned in the book of Acts: Bible teaching (doctrine), fellowship (meeting together), breaking of bread (communion), and prayer (intercession).
“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:41-42).
VALUE #3 – We Are People Of The Bible
God desires us to love His word. One of the best ways we can show our love is by reading, studying and applying scripture to our lives. At Calvary Chapel we believe that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Rom. 10:17). This is why we teach through the Bible systematically from Genesis to Revelation. This leads to spiritual growth and freedom in Christ. In John 8:31-32, Jesus says: “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
VALUE #4 – We Rely On The Power Of The Holy Spirit
At Calvary Chapel we do not place great emphasis on our own abilities, talents, and influence, but upon the gifts and power of God’s Spirit in our lives. We believe in the gifts and baptism (filling) with the Holy Spirit as promised in scripture.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…” (Acts 1:8).
VALUE #5 – We Love God By Loving Others
At Calvary Chapel we seek to reflect our love for Christ by loving one another. 1Corinthians 13 describes the nature of God’s love. As He pours His love into our hearts through His Spirit we are able to love and serve one another. In John 13:35 Jesus says, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
