Many Christians today are yearning for a deeper knowledge of God and of His word. Their souls are not being fed with short seeker-sensitive sermonettes, motivational messages and talks about tithing. In their spirits they are hungering for something more.
Just as the prophet Ezekiel went deeper and deeper into the river, we believe that God wants to take us as Christians into a deeper relationship with Himself. But how does this happen? Through His word. As Paul wrote to Timothy, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16,17). God’s desire for us is to be complete and mature in the faith, and we need all of God’s word as we pursue this. As someone has said, “The whole Bible makes whole Christians.”
At Calvary Chapel our goal is not just to preach from the Bible, but to study the Bible. The whole Bible. Every Sunday and midweek service we go deeper into God’s word in order to immerse ourselves in His truth. We encourage believers to take notes, memorize scriptures, and live out God’s word by the power of His Spirit.
